After I read an article about India written by a Chinese journalist, I'm quite interested in some information in it. So I wrote this letter to an Indian friend, Romar, a professor in University of Mumbai to confirm if the report is according to the fact. Actually, this is a private letter, but I want to share it with more friends who has interest to Indian situation as me. Anyway, this is no secret, so take it easy~
Dear Romar,
Dear Romar,
I'm Chen Si of UIBE in Beijing, I hope that you still remember me.
Recently I read a report about India based on an investigation in Mumbai. It describes some social phenomenon in India, such as the poor has equal rights as the rich, cheap education and free medical care, etc. which is really worth learning by Chinese government in my opinion. I want to recommend this report to my friends, but before that I want to make sure that if the report is according to the fact. So I write this letter to ask you a favor, could you please tell me if the main points in the article I listed below is real. I hope this won't bother you, and if you can reply me, I'll appreciate that very much.
The report is written by a Chinese journalist. The title of this report is <India, the heaven of the poor>. The main points of this article is listed below:
1. All citizens of India have the right of free medical care.
2. Land of India are private. And this is considered to be sound by Indian farmers.
3. Society is very peaceful. The poor don't hate the rich because of the inequities of the society. Crimes like the poor kidnap the rich hardly happen.
4. Education in India is quite cheap. Even kids in poor family can afford the tuition of university or college.
5. India is very democratic, the percent of registered voter is up to 70%. The votes can really represent the true demand of citizens. The government emphasizes on the society equity and protect the poor's rights.
It's a great pity that until now I haven't got enough time and appropriate chance to visit Mumbai and experience Indian life. But I'm really interested and will go have a visit if I get the chance.
Thank you so much for taking your time to read this letter and I'm looking forward to your reply. Best wishes to you, and also to India!
Yours, Chen Si
